I was planning to write about the tadpoles in the pond when I found a story about tadpoles in an old science lesson book. This book was one that my grandmother used in school. When the school was no longer in use there was a public sale and she bought a few old books there.
There are toads that come here every year to mate. They sing more at night-time than the day until a mate comes. They swim around and during that time she deposits thousands of eggs and the next day the toads are gone. I don’t know how many toads survive but sometime in July, we see a few hopping about in the garden and they are about the size of a fly.
Here is the elementary school book.
